Blackhawks Centennial

The National Hockey League dates back further than any other professional American league. With their intense rivalries, Stanley Cup wins and legendary players, the Chicago Blackhawks helped lay the foundation for the league today.

And in 2026, the franchise will celebrate their centennial season.

This side project explores what a Centennial design system could look like across all aspects of the franchise’s business, from an overall creative platform to jersey designs.

By bringing the secondary colors to the forefront, a Centennial palette brings a unique energy to the franchise. Paired the 1940’s logo, dynamic imagery and bold type, the Blackhawks can celebrate 100 years in a way only they can...

Bold, loud, and rooted in tradition.

Alternate jerseys are the perfect opportunity to pay homage to the history of the franchise. Incorporating jersey patches, hints of Centennial yellow and reviving old iterations of the Indian head roundel will nod to the past while looking towards the future.

Not to mention the overdue return of the black alternate jerseys.
